Korean Natural Farming: what it is and why we practice it

When people ask what makes Dream Drops different, the honest answer is not a proprietary extraction or a secret ingredient. It is a farming philosophy called Korean Natural Farming, KNF for short, that shapes everything we do in the soil.

The core idea: feed the soil, not the plant

Conventional agriculture feeds the plant directly with synthetic fertilizer. KNF does something fundamentally different: it feeds the soil, building a living community of microorganisms that in turn nourish the plant. The farmer becomes a steward of biology rather than a dispenser of chemicals.

Developed by Cho Han-kyu in South Korea, KNF is built around cultivating indigenous microorganisms, the native fungi and bacteria already present in your local environment, and using natural farming inputs made from on-farm materials rather than purchased chemicals.

What we actually do

• Indigenous microorganisms: We collect and culture the native microbial life from our own land, then reintroduce it to build a thriving soil food web.
• Natural inputs: Fermented plant juices, fish amino acids, and other farm-made preparations feed the soil biology instead of forcing growth.
• Living soil: The result is soil that is genuinely alive, full of fungal networks and microbial diversity that plants have evolved to partner with.
• Polyculture and companion planting: We grow herbs in diverse beds where each plant strengthens the others, rather than sterile monocrops.

For a calmer night, the work does not start in the bottle. It starts in the ground.

Why it produces more potent herbs

A plant in living soil is in constant exchange with its microbial partners. That relationship triggers the plant to produce a far richer profile of secondary metabolites, the exact compounds that make medicinal herbs work. This is why regeneratively grown herbs can contain many times the active compounds of conventionally grown ones.

In other words, KNF is not just an ethical choice about how we treat the land, though it is that. It is the reason the herbs in every bottle of Dream Drops are as potent as they are.

A whole-farm system

Our farm works as one system. Goats and chickens contribute to the fertility cycle. Companion planting and living compost keep the soil covered and biologically active year-round. Nothing is wasted, and nothing is imported that we can grow or make ourselves. Seven seasons in, the soil is measurably richer than when we started, and so are the plants.
